HOW A NETWORK ENGINEER ADVISOR WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Network Engineer provides the technical expertise to modernize network
design and implementation supporting multiple Air Force and Space Force
bases globally. The Network Engineer will be the technical resources
supporting the survey and implementation efforts. Works closely with the
base's counterparts and facilitate the planning, execution, testing and
sustainment of the wired functionality of the network.
Primary Responsibilities:
This position will perform the following duties:
- Execution - Coordinate with Government Points of Contact (POCs) to
coordinate base access, clearance, escorts, personnel and equipment
to ensure project tasks can be completed on time.
- Stakeholder Communications – assist the PM with ensuring clear,
consistent, timely and accurate communications are maintained with
internal and external project stakeholders
- Technical support – provide input into the network design and
technical recommendations to the program and operation teams.
- Leadership – Lead small implementation teams or manage specific work
scopes for a given AF/SF base.
Other tasks include:
- Provides technical, administrative, and operational management of
assigned projects
- Develops technical project plans, proposals, reports, and task order
and administrative reporting
- Perform detailed technical services on assigned tasks
- Conducts planning and provides recommendations on task workload
- Provides input into risk tracking process.
- Attends customer meetings and serves as primary network engineering
liaison.
- Interacts with vendors, other agencies, and other client staff.
- Coordinates development of deliverables and products.
- Ensures quality assurance of project deliverables.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
- Participates in special projects as required.
- Reviews project requirements and develop strategies for future work.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
● Education: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institute in an area
applicable to this position. Equivalent years of experience may be
substituted in lieu of degree.
● Required Experience:
- For JUNIOR level: 2+ years’ experience in various aspects of IT
upgrade projects in the DoD environment.
- For SENIOR level: 5+ years’ experience in various aspects of IT
upgrade projects in the DoD environment.
● Required Technical Skills:
- Familiarity with network design documents such as – Site Survey
Reports, Preliminary and Critical Design documentation, As-built
diagrams, rack elevations and circuit connectivity matrices
- Thorough understanding of Wired and general IT functions
- Ability to work effectively in a virtual teaming environment.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures,
documents and governmental regulations
- Strong commitment to a team environment and the ability to work
collaboratively
- Strong coordination and organizational skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
● Security Clearance Level: Active DoD Secret Level Clearance required
● Location: Remote
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience using MS Visio and MS Excel
Travel Required:
80-100%
Work Locations:
Working locations will vary, but will be located on site at Air Force
Bases around the world.
